We’re passionate about where we live and work. Backing local businesses means strengthening the community that makes Shrewsbury such a special place.
A Local Favourite with Deep Roots
For 27 years, Appleyards has called Shrewsbury home and we’re proud to have helped Nita and Melvin find the perfect place for their deli all those years ago, and to have supported them ever since.
A true haven for lovers of fine food, Appleyards is packed top to bottom with handpicked treasures. Whether it’s artisan cheeses, freshly baked bread, hanging cured meats, or locally brewed ales, it truly is a treasure trove of deli delights, with each piece thoughtfully selected.
We recently spoke to Nita to find out what makes Shrewsbury feel like home for her, Melvin, and the Appleyards team.
Why Shrewsbury?
Having grown up in the town, Nita shared “I just think it’s a lovely town. People are friendly, and it’s just a nice place to be.”
Though the food landscape has changed over the years, her love for Shrewsbury has remained constant.
What’s it like working with Cooper Green Pooks?
“It’s an old building so there’s going to be problems, but Cooper Green Pooks is up in a minute to sort it out for us. I’ve found them very easy to deal with. It’s a very comfortable relationship, and it works well for us. We’re more than happy.”
